I used a ZM80C-HP for a long time and recently just bought another one for 41$ for my 9800xt the other one is being used on my gf2ti500... recently I saw a ZM80D-HP that says it also works for my 9800xt I would like to know it's as good or not. THe one I'm watching cost around 20$ more but it comes with a lot of cooling sumplements...

Silent coolers are good and all, heck I flat out love them, but at that price it is not worth it especially for a card that old. If you want to move away from the stock cooler look into the artic cooling silencer rev 3 (http://www.svc.com/vga-rev3.html) it is near silent, easier to install, and a better performer. I have used both of these cooling options on flashed 9800pros as well so Im not just saying unfounded crap.

If you still want to use one of the zalmans regardless the D is better then the C as it uses more heatpipes I believe.

You say articcoolr silcnecer cools more then the zalmans either one? that is probably when not using its fan but when it has the fans? and oh... The 9800 isn't that old only my gf2ti500 64mb is.

The zalman fan is not good at all if you want good airflow then there are far better, and cost effective options, that I could give. However none of these will push the card much further, if at all, then the artic cooling option. The artic cooling option is far cheaper and overall better I wouldnt sink 40 bucks into an aftermarket cooler for a 9800 at this point, but then again I am not you.

Also the best options for cooling the zalman cooler involve taking up more pci slots.

Basically dont buy that crappy fan that zalman trys to bundle with it, unless you dont like to do some minor ghetton modding.

Also almost all of the mods that can be done to the zalman option can be done with the artice cooling save one.

The only advantage that the zalman has is seperate ram sinks.

So you say articcooler cools better? maybe but it makes noise zalman cools the same but is noiseless.

UPDATE* The fan actually cools my card by at least 13C dregrees :attn:
