Any changes in your network connection? What type of connection are we talking about? When you set up the client did you answer "no" to using IE settings? Any proxy issues? Following ChasR's good advice, check the following links;
http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/
http://assign2.stanford.edu/
http://assign.stanford.edu/
You should get the Pandegroup site on the first, and in IE a screen saying OK on the last two. If you don't get the OK, something is blocking the connection.

cannot see the assignment server, but the rig is on the same network as the rest of my stuff!
The link to the assignment server must contain the port. Try this one:
http://assign.stanford.edu/ (http://assign.stanford.edu:8080)
Did you delete 502s registry entries?
Before you uninstall FAH you should exhaust other options. If your rig was sending to server.151, you should have had units in the queue. If that was the case FAH was functioning exactly as it should. That server went down without updating the collection server and is still down so there isn't a way to send WUs back that came from .151. The same may hold true for WUs from .138 but I think it has updated the collection server recently.
There is a program called qfix that can repair the FAH queue.dat file. It is available at: http://home.comcast.net/~wxdude2/rph/fah.html Save the qfix file to the fah directory and run the program from the command prompt. If there is nothing wrong with the file, qfix will tell you that too.
If the FAH client has become corrupted, deleting the file FAH50x-Console.exe and downloading a new one to the same directory will fix that without a reinstall.
Check the client.cfg file and make sure it looks right.
Lastly, if all else has failed, to ungrade 502 running as a service to 504, stop the client, download 504 to the FAH directory. Delete the FAH registry keys found in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/ Then run FAH504-Console.exe with the -configonly flag. Answer the configuration questions answering no to use IE settings and no to use proxy. Yes to install as a service. After the configuration program finishes, edit the regisrty to add the -forceasm and -verbosity 9 flag to the ImagePath key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/FAH@path+FAH504-Console.exe. start the service using services.msc. There is no need to delete any files in the FAH directory, though it won't hurt to delete the old FAH502-Console.exe.
Copy of client.cfg may help with diagnosis asd would knowing which OS you're using.
