New system.. b ad windows?

Okay.. so I got this new board and CPU from a guy recently and its a 6100 754 board with a 3200+ clawhammer.. Anyhow.. I keep trying to install a copy of XP upon this system with my DVDRW and such and.. I keep getting errors.. during the installation it comes up with a .. select a area to find files at thing.. and.. yeah.. I click cancel.. it says it needs some file or soemthing from the disk... but it wont find it.. and when windows finishes installing it comes up without IE, Outlook express, and other things.. I tried installing the drivers after that and then SP2 but it still refuses to work. I twont pick up anything on my network and I dunno whats wrong with it really.. Anyone have any solutions?

Okay.. I just used a friends XP CD and it does the same exact thing...

it comes up wanting to copy files from D:\386 and it wont read it

Well.. I didnt realize I had to use a master disk CD drive to do this with... LOL.. The only reason why it wouldnt work was because the DVD RW is set to slave.. I had to install a seperate CD drive for it to work.. this si weird stuff!

Sounds like you have an issue with your dvd drive...

I think it might be just because it was on slave... the board only does things by cable select.. I have the cable for master on the dvd RW but it still came up as slave.. so.. ew...

I know a lot of this may be Uber basic, but the info may come in handy for resolving your issue, so you may want to give it a look-see
