My main pc is dead :(

It died last night, just shut off, On investigation the fans connected direct to the psu were turning very slowly. And nothing else would work,

Does any one know of an issue with the KT7a (800duron ) and power supplies, I had a generic 300w.

I've read some reviews on different new psu with a few comments saying dont get this with a kt7 etc etc.....

WHY ???

How long should a psu last? This generic one has done a year or so,

Now that AMD processors are secure in the best bang for buck slot, folks are finally realizing that PS's are a crucial part of a system. AMD CPU's simply suck major amperage out of the PS. 'Fraid that generic simply won't do any longer.

Yes, a high-quality PSU is critical. Sparkle, Antec, and Enermax all make quality PSUs.
