Pioneer: 2x1x8 + 8x4x32
Ricoh: 2.4x8 (have rewrite DVD though) + 12x10x32
HP: same as ricoh

which one seems to be the winner than??

Avoid HP like the plague. I've NEVER gotten one to work correctly (at my co-op and on my own, its not just because I'm a loser :p ).

I'd go w/ the Pioneer. That way you get good playback on your DVD's as well.
