It's a faster card.
But I do believe that Ti200 is as cheap as they come, therefore of the lowest quality.
I'd say hold on to your card for now, its still VERY good. Wait till around Christmas if you really want a GF3, because I read theres supposed to be somewhat of a price cut.
2D performance for the Radeon is better than that of any nVidia card as far as I'm concerned (and I do own a Radeon 64MB VIVO and a GeForce 3).
The GeForce owns the Radeon as far as raw speed goes. It will provide more FPS and probably will be a little better in more recent games since it supports some of the newer hardware functions incorporated into i that the older Radeon does not.
I happen to love both of these cards for what they have to offer. I use the Radeon in my multimedia station because of it's hardware DVD capabilities and use the GeForce 3 in my main rig, primarily because that is the one I do my gaming on.
Depending on what your primary usage for a video card is, I can't really see you gaining anything in one area that you wouldn't be losing in another. You might do a little better, a little worse or no change at all.
I do have to admit that at $100...it's an excellent deal though.

hmmmm . . . my only purpose is gaming :D, so you're saying the ti200 would be better, right?
and i know the ti200 is the lower quality model, but i heard it can easily be overclocked to perform at least as good as the standard gf3 (you can correct me if im mistaken of course).
yeah 100 is a great price too.
also, i was wondering how much you guys think a good price to sell my radeon would be? is it a good deal if its just a trade (sell for 100 i mean)?
You will get more FPS out of it and a better 3DMark score but I don't necessarily call that better. I still think the Radeon you have gives better overall image quality while being able to more than hold its own in the gaming arena.
It's a close call really and more or less depends on personal opinions of what is "better". I wouldn't trade mine for a ti200, for instance...but I do prefer my Visiontek GeForce 3 in gaming.

hunter,
I have a radeon 64 DDR vivo Second Edition comes with 198/198 clk/mem speed. I will probably jump across the border tommorrow and try to snag the Ti200 myself to compare them, then I will sell it here in Vancouver.
The Ti200 does not have TV out, video in/out and the 2D quality plus dvd playback is not in the same league. The Ti200 will be faster in fps but whether it will be a big noticeable diff I do not know.
Have you considered overclocking your Radeon 64 DDR ? They overclock well and this will allow you to keep it longer. The question you need to ask yourself is do you really need the Ti200?? Can you run all the currnet games with decent framerates? If so I would keep that card and overclock it as I will do with mine.
Another board member here, Quizno has an SE card like mine at 246/492 with a 486 heatsink and fan and some ramsinks on it. I believe that when I install my lapped blue orb , and I mean shiny and lapped plus ramsinks I believe I have a shot at 250/500 and it will run stable as Quizno ran 250/500 but settled it at 246/492.
I run mine at 234/468 with stock cooling, check my sig out my 3D Mark2001 score is decent and I am sure once overclocked higher I may reach close to 4500. I have not had any probs playing the newest games in any way and the card supports DX8.
I would say hold onto it but if you are like me and you got the cash and wanna test something new out then go for it but there is no way I am selling mine. I will wait for the 8500 to come down in price around boxing Day and grab it up then.
But hell $99 after all rebates is cheap and I just wanna compare the cards and then sell it cause it does not have enough features for me.

yeah im confused about the times too. my local store is in mall that usually opens 10-9:30. does this mean they will be opening at 7 for the sale??
well you're right about the features part, but i am primarily using this machine for gaming (i've never even used the features).
so from a purely gaming standpoint is it better? the radeon also seems to have issues with some games, and people are always whining about ati, so i dont know . . .

It's a Visiontek card they're selling correct? If so they do have TV/S video out.
My opinion is to grab it if you have the $$. They can oc very well from what i've heard and you'll be able to max out the settings on any game which makes it a whole new game. Going from standard to optimized settings is like stepping into a new world. Anyway even if you decide you don't like the card you can always sell it. Just keep the original box and everything and you should get atleast $100 from it. Heck I'll take it for around $120 if you decide not to keep it. So there you go, even if you don't end up liking it you can make $20 profit :)

I thought they were selling a GeForce3 Ti200. Because the link took me to an add for a GeForce2 Ti. Look here (http://www.visiontek.com/6564.shtml) for the GeForce3 Ti200 stats. Also take a look here (http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp?image=14-129-006-01.JPG/14-129-006-02.JPG/14-129-006-03.JPG) for the gf2 Ti.

The version of the visiontek Ti200 here in Canada does not come with TV out. I plan to buy myself one of these cards if I can drag my ass out of bed at 6 am to get it across the border...

Okay , best buy bought out futureshop here in Canada. The card sold here is described as a geforce 2 Ti model 5864, the description does not mention any TV out which is odd.
Yet the link posted above shows the same card and model but with a TV out. So is the card that Best Buy is selling a G2 Ti200 or a G3 Ti 200?? I wanna know cause i may grab one up and sell it after testing it out.

It's a good deal provided you can get one before they sell out. And they will sell out very quickly. The Visiontek card has 5ns RAM and TVout. Nice for overclocking too with the RAM sinks. I don't think it comes with any games though. 2d and dvd playback are subpar but gaming is good. I've had a chance to compare the Leadtek GF3 Ti200 with my Radeon 8500 and I'd have to say the Radeon is superior in most cases (although it's a higher-end card more comparable to the GF3 ti500) except for some games like GiantsCK. The leadtek also has better 2d then the visiontek card.

I was gonna drag my sorry ass outa bed and drive over the boarder to see if I could get one of these cards but I think I will pass and wait for the radeon 8500 to come down. 2D quality is imp to me and so is dvd playback .....
cisco kid, but it is a damn good deal for someone wanting a good gaming card if ya can get one

Well, for $99 I don't think I'd pass it up except that I already have an 8500. But if you don't play a lot of games and want more of an all-around card I'm not sure it would be worth it (but it's so cheap, hehe, hard to pass up).
yes, the visiontek gf3 ti200 does have tv out - i got the deal and mine has it...........as far as gf3 vs. ATI, they say if you are going to game, the gf3 is the way to go (better drivers), but if you do anything w/video, the ATI card is better..............your choice depending on what matters to you most...........
