Im soon going to be buying a new case, the Juno P6, for my overclocked AMD.
But somehing thats interesting me is that its got space for two PSU's, it only comes with one 300w installed. Apart from the obvious extra power, what other benefits would adding another PSU have? How would the PsU's work together? Does the motherboard need to support this? Any help or explainations would be great.
When I get the case im gonna pump it full of fans, a window and some nice lights.. Ill send the pictures right on after I finish.
Greatly!
The benefits are very usefull.
You can connect any two power supplys together, just wire
them together!
I highly reccomend using a pc power & cooling - Turbo Cool 300W
as one of the supplys and wireing them together. This will cause
you to get all the benefits of the Turbo cool except EMI filtering,
but it is very, very, very much worth it! Hey woulnt you just like
those lines to be at the correct voltage ALL the time nomatter
what the load? This is just one of the very intense benefits of
the turbo cool line...Might I add they are $$$ but it is money well spent!

Yes all you geeks out there, I sayed EMI filers in a power supply!
PC power & Cooling is one of the only ones to do this and on top
of it, there is also 12v line regulation! The regulation is also 1%
acuracy not 5% or 10% or even 15% with some other power
supplys.

So I literally just cut the wires from both PSU's and connect em all back up together to the plug that goes to the mobo? Is it that easy? Can I buy some sort of reverse power splitter to do it for me?
But what about all that extra voltage? Wont it damage my PC?
Yes,
you can just cut all the wires and connect them together,
Id leave a few inches of wire on the molexes, incase you make
a mistake, as far as voltage - you will not increase the "voltage"
as you are connecting the wires in "parrallel" you will just
increase the "amps" or power.
here's a little guide.

pick the ones which are about PSU's

Yeah, realised afterweards that the cables wuld be connected in parallel and not serially, so the volts would go up...
So putting two PSU's in a case is advantageous then? Especially with my overclocked AMD, loads of fans and drives?
why not use that extra opening for more ventilation .... two psu's do have certain advantages to them but also take into account it will double the heat output created by your power supply... slap a 120mm above your current psu and keep your case temp cooler!

Yes, Have you ever wondered why the air blows out the
back of the power supply, and why its mounted in the back
of the computer?
- It is however a good idea to have a blowhole at the top
of your case.

YMAN & jbell... guys the case that im gonna get to put all this kist in is a Juno P6.. ive tried to attach a pic so you can see that above the two PSU holes there is space for 2 fans.
Si im not too worried about the heat.. space for 5 fans in there.
haha yman WELCOME TO THE SICKNESS ..ER... FORUMS!!!
Nice pic of the back of the case ... if you got room for fans still above the 2 PSU's then cool your all set.... I realize yamn why the psu blows its own air out but it isn't necessarily the best way... or only way...
if you run 2 PSUs why not have one dedicated to the mobo and floppy and run your cd-roms and HDs off the second - you can break up the power, control what gets what better and get away with a smaller - less heat creative PSU to slap in there...
hey Yman hows palm beach right now? I was at fernadina beach yesterday.... might be going to orlando tomorrow

I would power them sepeately as its safer and hae a switch at the front, I would use it to power all the cd's and fans etc and the other for your board and cpu, oh and my new case has 6 fan slots!!!!

so, what i need to do is get the two pins from the ATX power supply in the connector that switches it on and off, connect them to a button and thats that?
Ive got a diagram for the motherboard power connector, if i connect pin 14 to any GND for a second will that switch the psu on?
Ive seen people connect them to relays so that one pus switches them both on and off. Can I just wire them to my exsisting ones?
EDIT
That doesnt make much sense...
Scrap that.. I have found a place on the net, in the US but Im UK, that sells power extenders for the ATX power cable.. If I buy three of these and cut the male ends off two of them and the femal end off one of them and wire them together making a sort of y-splitter, except putting two power supplies into one device instead of two devices from one power, will this give the desired effect?
