View Full Version : Folding Not Stealing Enough Juice!
Hello all,
I was just watching my cpu usage while running folding @ home
and it is not 100%!!!
It is 20% and spikes every other second to 30%!!! http://www.ytec.d2g.com/emoticons/snarl.gif
How can I make folding @ home use more power? This is
pathetic, take alook at your useage and see what it is.

mines 100% all the time:) If you're running windows ME/98 then you can download a taskmanager and set it's priority higher. If you're running win2000 or XP you already have a taskmanager. Tell me if you need the link and I'll find it.

Ok even if you don't need it someone else might want it. here (http://www.voodoofiles.com/3866) it is! Set Winfah.exe to real time and Core_65 to high(doesn't work at real time)
AHHH!
That did not help!
I have version 2.10, I thought it was 2.11 but well 2.15 is
out so i will give that a try and post the results.
Ok, I did a quick little upgrade and set the prioritys to
winFAH.exe to realtime
Core_65 to High
And it works GREAT

glad to hear it! I did it and i can definitely see a difference. There are problems though if you're using the program. It does have it's glitches and such.

Nothing...it was just empty wasted cycles
Whoa. That's a bit strange. Anyway glad to see that it's resolved :)

That is strange. Folding has never had any problem making my cpu's run 99 - 100%, ver 1 and ver 2. win98, if that makes any diff.

I have noticed that in XP the System process will sometimes steal a large portion of the resources, especially when printing. Perhaps that was happening and by setting the priorities higher you were overpowering in a sense the System process.
