why are motherboard makers still making new 965 boards? why arent they fully concentrating on 975? arent all the new core 2 cpus made for the 975 socket. doesnt make sense that theyre using a somewhat outdated chipset when the new one is out....
I still can't belive I read that...

Does the second slot being 4x matter bandwidth-wise matter for crossfire?

yes 975 was the origional chipset for the core2 chips and 965 is its baby sister but she does just as good of a job as the 975 just cheeper. but for my money i would take the extra 30 hit for the 975 to get a great board but yes there were many problems with the bios shipped before core2 came out.

975 just doesn't hit the clocks that 965 does. it does have its advantages though ;)
Until Bearlake released, just watch 965 rev.C2, prolly might blow 975X out of the water.

Does the second slot being 4x matter bandwidth-wise matter for crossfire? Yes it very much does, 975 boards are the only choice for a CF setup.
