Here is the deal:

I have an Acer e360 that I bought for cheap.

Has an X2 3800+
2x512mb DDR 400
ATi 850xt
250gb SATA

It has 2 more DIMMS for up to 4gb of memory.

Should I:

A) Keep the 1gb of ram I have and leave it be.
B) Add 2x512mb of pc2700 ram, slowing the memory down but adding a gig to the overall system.

Only two choices here, and I use it for homework, editing photos (Adobe lightroom) and playing CS:Source. Multitasking is what I do the majority of the time.

Why not add 1x512MB of PC3200?

I suppose I should clarify.

I have 2 sticks of DDR400 and 2 sticks of DDR333. Now, spending no money, should I keep it at 1 gig with faster ram or add the 2 sticks of DDR333, slowing down the overall system ram but upping it to 2 gigs of memory?

Ahh ok I see now! That helps then.

In this case I have to suggest trying BOTH of course! :santa: Do a few different system benchmarks (like PCMark05 or something like that, that tests overall system performance), with just the 1GB, then test it again after installing both sticks of DDR333.

Obviously whichever performs better in benchmarks will probably perform better in real world performance, although the difference may not be huge.
