Here's what awaited me today as I tried to switch my email account from @home.com to @rogres.com:

Thank you for visiting the Rogers @Home Transition Website.

The transition has been delayed to November 23, 2001 at noon to accomodate further testing of the system.

Please visit this site at that time to complete the transition.

Interesting no? Whats even more interesting is the fact that my email is dead as of now, not a week from now when they said the final deadline would be reached, now.

I suppose everyone with Rogers cable internet could be getting hosed too, you might want to check people.

Perhaps business not caring about your convenience one iota would be more accurate.

Well I would have titled it "****** and sheep ******* ******-*****!" but somehow I don't think that would have done me much good here. I'd feel better though. :D

Hey guess what? That website is like useless if you have a LANcity modem. They said sorta "Call us and we'll do everything". But wait, if you call in the next 5 seconds, you get to enjoy the 20 minutes that you have to hold on the line!

That site is crap, It took me an average of 40 minutes for the email update page to load (I had to load it several times before the whole thing loaded properly.) and in the end all their advice did was ruin my entire outhouse express setup. Looks like I'm stuck with my yahoo account for a while. Sympatico is looking mighty good right about now.

I wish I could say that. Its not available in my house, but is available in my friend's house who lives like across the street from me, and my other friend who lives close to me switched to @home from bell, and his pings and download speeds improved by a lot.

Well my system has been reconstructed, thanks to someone who I'll not name, because he isn't a member here so it wouldn't serve any point. If anyone here has a position just east of Toronto for a computer muckity-muck, I know someone with very good skills who may be looking for a job in the near future.

Mye email is currently dead again, although that's not news after it happens 12+ times in half a week, but I just thought I'd mention that earlier this evening I spoke with two people in my city who also have rogers@home and they have had nothing but trouble with their email too. Sideways ted rogers, sideways.

sympatico aint that much better, I hear it doesn't go down much..

but cable is quicker..

and their DSL modem isn't shielded..
so u can't just lay it anywhere...

so I stick with rogers... plus it's easier to share cable I think..
I have 4 connections in the house

2.5 hours down time, followed by half an hour up time (during which I made my post above) then back down again for 6-10 hours, I didn't keep accurate time records. Still minimum 8.5 hours in a 9 hour period??? Sideways ted, sideways.

Welcome to the club. there are approximately 48 million people affected by @Home Going bankrupt. Grit your teeth and be patient the transition is going to involve some pain but it will only be temporary while all the servers are rebuilt.

Be glad you have partial service. there are many who have none and wont for another month or two.
