E6300 @ 1.4 vcore?

In my motherboard BIOS, I just left vcore on Auto. CPU is at 2.898ghz, using 414mhz FSB x7. RAM is at 828mhz w/ 4-4-4-12 timings.

Isn't the max voltage on these around 1.35? I just played F.E.A.R. and Quake4, and before that, I ran 3dmark 2006 two times. Before that, I ran memtest86 three times.

memtest86 showed no errors, and games never showed any signs of anything being unstable.

Is 1.4v on vcore okay? I was considering going back and lowering it, but since it works, I've left it alone for now.

As long as load CPU temps are fine, I'd just leave it there if you are happy. Yes, 1.4v is ok as long as you have good cooling.

The box says 1.35v max I believe in terms of what is allowable for warranty(though I don't know how they'd know you had higher voltage). Don't know the max voltage for these chips as P4 had the SNDS, but I didn't have it on my 1.8A@2.7ghz(3ghz max) chip till I took off my watercooling after a couple years. However, lots of people experienced it after 4-6 months and then more after a year.

Oh definitely, I've killed a couple AMD Thunderbirds in the past from installing/taking off the heatsink and never RMA'd em. I'd only RMA if it was something wrong with the hardware in the first place. I'm sticking to 1.35v max so np with me =)

I lowered it to 1.35, just for peace of mind.

Still works. Plus, I increased FSB another mhz, so now it's truly 2.90ghz.

im at 1.55v in the bios, 1.51-1.52 in windows and im not worried just keep the temps cool..!:santa:
