i just bought an MP1600 thinking it was unlocked and i wouldnt have to mess with any L1 bridges to find out that it is not.
Maybe it the motherboard but i dont think so. i can adjust the multipliers in the bios to whatever i want. when i go below default 10.5 say to 10.0 it wont even boot into bios. when i change it to anything above 10.5 and post into windows XP ,sandra and cpuid both say that its still at default 10.5 even though rebooting into bios tells me that its set above default. the chip has no laser cuts between the L 1's and they are not connected, even though they are "supposed" to be connected under the substrate.i thought i might connect them with a rear defogger repair kit just to be sure and i get the same results with the multipliers. so i removed the bridges i made and still the same results. WTF?? i got the board set to jumperfree mode wich allows me to change the multiplier settingsand vcore voltage in the bios. i have the latest bios. ive got all the jumpers on the board set up right for an XP/MP chip, but all of that makes no difference.

Ive tried everything i can think of to be able to adjust the multipliers........with NO luck with this "supposed " unlocked MP

Any body got any ideas?
ive posted on every forum there is and ive gotten no answers that help.

PLEASE HELP... i want to OC using the multipliers instead of the fsb like i am now. i dont want to kill my add in cards in the process of fsb OC'ing.
thanks in advance

What you say makes no sense. AMD disconnects L1 bridges by cutting huge holes into the OPGA. You say there are no laser cuts but I think you are wrong. To unlock the CPU, you gotta fill up the Laser pits between the L1 bridges with Glue or something similiarly unconductive. If you do not, you will simply short the L1 bridges with the wireing (i guess its a secondary "L1" circuit thats made to stop Overclockers from unlocking their CPUs) you have a locked CPU again (most although report their multiplier was locked to 11 after having wrongly unlocked the XP)

1. Fill up the gaps between the L1 bridges with glue
2. connect each L1 bridge with highly conductive ink
3. enjoy unlocked cpu

heres a pic I made to show it

Im sitting here looking at my MP with a magnifying glass and it definately has no cuts on the L1's.
Thanks for the input but maybe you would be better at responding to peoples posts if YOU WOULD READ THEM MORE CAREFULLY....PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO DETAIL

Try changing the setting using the jumpers to see if it works, also don't forget we are trying to help you so don't have a go at someone because they got it wrong. For all you know he could have been up at 1pm in the morning trying to help you.
Anyway good Luck and let us know how you get on.:D
