When ever I play an MP3 on XP Professional it clicks/pops. It acts as if it doesnt have enough memory because it plays fine unless I move through other windows, through the start menu or other places. I have downloaded all the updates for XP and the sound drivers for my creative PCI128 on board sound.

I even thought I screwed something up and reinstalled XP....no go. I have a dual boot with Win98SE and it plays great there. I have tried it on Winamp, MusicMatch and even Win media player.

Has anyone ran into this?????

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What cipset do you have on your motherboard if you have a via chipset here is a great resource http://alive.singnet.com.sg/ and here is another http://www.viahardware.com/faq/kt7/faqsound.html#How%20can%20I%20make%20my%20system%2 0stable%20with%20a%20Soundblaster%20Live!%20card?

I have went to both websites and downloaded all the updates/drivers. Thank you. that was one thing I didn't do yet. I have a VIA KT133 chipset but they still didn't seem to help the choppy, popping that the MP3's seem to make.

I am desperate, any more suggestions!?

I've heard that MP3's don't play right in XP. Something MS put into the kernel to prevent digital piracy. But it was probably just a rumor.

Well, i figured it out. I needed to update the BIOS on my mother board (gigabyte GA-7ZX) I was 4 updates behind so that made a huge difference. No more clicky/popping...thank God! just thought i would let everyone know. Thanks to everyone!
