Ok first a little History, This started when I seen a post in Classies "HELP CANDICE GET ONLINE" After reading that and seeing the results I decided to give an idea a try.

The idea was to help a young man I know where I work to get a decent rig with the help of the kind gents in the OverClockers Classified Forums.

The original idea was to build the fattest pc133 based system we could come up with together. Everyone ships the parts to me, I build it, format, test etc. Then deliver it too Matt and watch the rivers of tears fall off his face :p

I had a few parts laying around and posted what was needed, honestly I didn’t think this was going to get off the ground at all but thanks to Four good Men we are building Matt a MSI-K8T NEO, Athlon64 Socket939 2.0Ghz, Corsair Extream Edition 512mb 2700ddr, Ati 9000, Soundblaster5.1 with a 60Gig Maxtor HD a very nice CDRW and wireless keyboard/mouse.

Far surpassing the original idea and helping to make this happen are
RIG RIDER, Super Nade, Captain Slug & ZL1 others who offered help and supported the idea g0dM@n, Evilsizer & yo4444 thanks to all of you for making this happen, Matt will indeed be Surprised.

Here are some pics, they’re not the greatest so...

I will post more as the build progresses, I will post any problems and resolutions as I go, one thing I’m not too happy about already is the PSU.
I purchased it from newegg some 8 months ago for a PII build, for some reason I didn’t use it and now I remember why, Its Junk total Junk, so if anyone here wants to pitch in on this project or knows where I can find a decent PSU at a decent price "I will pay for it" Please PM me... Thanks again too everyone.

And now the Geek Porn...

Thanks Flack not just me tho OC.Com Members makin it happen.

Another Build update, I was able to defeat the 120mm Fan problem by striping apart an Old PSU I was even able to use the grill out of it, worked a charm, just had to splice in a 4pin connector.

Still looking for some help with a decent psu to power this rig :santa2:

Couldn't have done it with out you, There may be a small delay in him receiving this, If no one steps up to the plate by Monday with a PSU for this PC, Im going to order a fortron from newegg Monday night, I just cant bring myself to put an inadequate PSU into this or any build for that matter.

Here is a few more pics of the 120mm Fan mod, wich saved a few bucs, I tore apart an old psu and was able to salvage the 120mm fan and the grill, spliced in a double sided 4pin connector, problem solved, once I get a psu either from a donation or newegg, I just have to wire it in, fire it up, set up the bios, put a temporary OS on it so I can run some stability tests and we will be 95%
done.

If I had a plasma torch here at the house I could have cut that hole under the grill real clean, I cut it with tin snips and it didnt turn out as clean as I hoped it would.

looking real good so far :)
id offer to donate my aspire 420w psu, that i used to run a 3.0c system
but the entire reason its no longer being used is because its not that much of a quality psu, so im not sure you'd want to stick that in there
Great deed your doing here forsure! ~ ill keep my eye on this thread

I wish I had seen the thread asking for parts earlier, but I had voluntarily asked for a ban from the classies, since I needed no parts, and have a tendency to buy things that are cool. Best of luck, and lets have pictures. =D

Did you get my pm regarding moving the thread. Wile you wait you could paint the poor thing to match the cd-rw.............or not.

not sure if youve thought about it, i dont see it mentioned, but you'll probably need a windows license, as i would think someone without a comp usin linux would be a generally unpleasant experience for them, different from what they have used and all that.

but its a sweet project, imsure he'll be thankful.

He better be LOL :D

There will be a legit OS running on this computer or it will sit there stareing at the wall.

RIG has something in the way of an OS not sure what yet, I have win98v2 sitting on the shelf here, I been to Matt's home once, I belive he has 2000 running on an ancient machien pc66, I was simply going to use my slipstreamed svcpk2 to test the PC, then bring it too Matts home and do a format with 2000, 98v2, &/or see what Rig Rider has in mind.

xp home & pro OEM can be purchased for a decent price now a dayes as well.
