Things I need:

tips on unlocking(though I've read how on a few sites)
useful suggestions of any kind
Things I have:
ECS K7S5A
Athlon XP1800+
Volcano 5 heatsink
512meg PC2400 ram
Asus v8200 Geforce 3 235/540

First off welcome. You made a great choice in a CPU but a bad one in the motherboard if you want to overclock. Dont get me wrong I love my ECS board on my Duron-extremely stable-its just that it doesn't give you many options for overclocking. Your Mobo only allows you to adjust the Front Side Bus and not the voltages or the multiplyer. Also the standard bios only allows up to 133/133 FSB which is what your XP normally runs at. To get more options for overclocking with the FSB you will have to flash your bios. The one that I used can be found here http://forum.ocworkbench.com/ocwbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=4 . So far I have overclocked my XP only using the FSB as I'm to chicken to try and unlock it.
If you really want to overclock your XP you may want to think about getting a different motherboard but for normal use you have a very nice, stable motherboard.
I hope thats enough to get you started. Good Luck

Thx for the tips. I'm using Motherboard Monitor 5 for a program now and I unlocked the cpu (I think) using tips from the www.overclockers.com site. I still cant change the bios settings over the 133/133 but i'm gonna go d/l that bios update now. I'll post my results later!
On your K7S5A , what revision do you have? Sounds like a great setup!
