Do you mean that it hangs during the installation of XP or that XP installs and then the program hangs when it is loaded after first installing OK??

I had some problems with bringing over settings from ME but the program informed me of the trouble and then installed without bringing over the settings.

Do a fresh install, always better as everything is new ! I tried it once, but wasn't successful. (from DOS 6.2 to Win95 tho, not XP !) and Win98 or any OS that ur upgrading from will leave some unnecessary files, that are just occupating space.

I would never recommend a upgrade install ever.. The clean install is a good option. Good luck and upgrade to your lastest bios because had trouble with WinXP Locking up during install and when they updated to their lastest bios it worked.

Try going into Task Manager and shutting down everything except for Explorer and Systray. Sometimes programs running in the background can cause problems during installation.

I'd go one further go into msconfig and remove startup group.
