Is there a significant difference between P5 Deluxe and Non-deluxe?

My friend told me to go with an Asus P5 instead of a gb ds3, and he told me the non-deluxe version would work fine with my e6300. So my question is, is the deluxe version a lot better than the regular P5? What are the differences? There's a 60 dollar price difference. Keep in mind I won't be extremely ocing my e6300, probably to around 3 Ghz if it ever comes to it, but no further. Would the non-deluxe be able to handle it fine?
Please help and thanks.

hey there, from what I read, i dont know if a regular p5b would be capable of a 1200mhz overclock. They say the p5b is way better for overclocking. Just what Ive read so far, so not exactly sure

The P5B overclocks fine with newer bios.

It lacks Matrix Raid however, There are two versions of the Deluxe, regular and wifi (the regular lacks wifi and is a bit cheaper) and the P5B-E (4phase instead of 8 phase power and again no wifi) all can do Matrix Raid.
I would suggest a motherboard that has a ICH8R southbrige rather then the motherboards that have the ICH8 southbridge.

Can you suggest one? Because Im not very proficient in the hardware area :(
Also I dont need raid, im only getting 1 small hd(80gb).

You don't need raid? hmm check out this thread

I would suggest another 80Gb 3gb/s SATA
these being neweggs cheapest http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822145082
You have to use a software application from hitachi to change the firmware to 3.0Gb/s IIRC (IE I don't think they have SATA jumpers)

After reading what Matrix Raid can do for performance and you still don't think its not worth it to invest in HD's (I would rather have this and a Matrix Raid array to be perfectly honest)

The P5B, GA-965P-DS and DS3 are fine choices.

You can go to this website and choice the southbrige, its usually pretty up to date.. Ive only seen the Asus P5B-E and a couple Intel branded boards missing out of the 965P chipset motherboards.
I made a list of matrix raid capable 965P motherboards in this post
http://www.ocforums.com/showpost.php?p=4708979&postcount=18
some are better overclockers then others. I would avoid the MSI, the Abit AB9 Pro I wouldn't suggest unless you were getting a CPU with a larger multiplyer.

Try google for FSB results, I just checked FSB world records like yesterday and a couple boards I didnt expect out of that list were on there  sooo new bios have kicked a couple of these boards into high gear.

Hmm it seems too complicated for me, and I'm only getting 1 hd(Im on a very tight budget)
I still can't decide whether I should go with the DS3 since people say it overclocks well also, or the P5B which people say can do it as well :S
Someone with profound knowledge needs to make the decision for me :(

Did you notice the price of this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819112207
I said I would rather have that CPU and matirx raid (it works in C2D motherboards); then a E6300 and no raid.

Ill look into the P5B a little bit more.. give me a few. ;)
Looks like its done fine with the new bios http://xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=115446
It should be able to take on as much FSB as a cheap set of ram should be able to put out.

Get wichever one is cheaper to be honest if you go this route.. P5B or DS3.. I find it odd that a few of the old timers dont particualy like the P5B http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1613318&postcount=6 and I respect his oppinon.

I would go for the Abit AB9 Pro now that I think about it, its new bio's are getting around 400FSB, it has matrix raid and it costs about the same as these non matrix raid mobos.

I'm more of a novice as you have probably figured out, so I'd rather go for the stable and more popular parts (ie. DS3 or P5B)
Here's by the way my recent updated list(not sure about psu or mobo yet)
http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=4095288
Im getting this pc mainly to play games such as BF2142 and Quake wars, and I cant go any higher than that price or else I would get an extra gig of ram. So I can't really get a 2nd hd :( Would the matrix raid really show fps increase in those games? If the only thing it does is speed up how fast maps load or stuff like that, I really don't need it =/
Btw I really appreciate you helping me on this :)

The Abit AB9 Pro is a stable and popular motherboard. PM batboy on his oppinon of it.

Fast HD's makes the computer more responsive, its the slowest thing in your computer.

FPS is more GPU related. Your system as outlighned will be graphics card bottlenecked. (heck I dont know if the CPU I put up there fully overclocked couldnt handle the graphics card you picked out)

Im warry of the powersupply as well. I would invest an extra 40 bucks in the sparkle 550W.

Well the XFX has 12 pipelines, and it comes overclocked. I have a 17" monitor so I'll probably be playing on 1024 for a while, and on that I can easily achieve most high settigns with some good anti-aliasing.

Im not even buying it for a while(have to take SAT and finish college apps) and only after that will my parents consider paying part of it. So maybe even prices will go down and I'll get a 7900gs or gt.
