View Full Version : OC'ing my POS FX 5200
So anyhow, I was just trying to OC my 5200. I followed the how to OC an Nvidia card thread, and htis is what I got. Got a 3D (2005) score of 250 (yes, less than 1000) without changing anything to get a baseline. Started working my way up, baby steps, and my score went down! So I figured okay, This card does not want to get cranked so I back off to my baseline. Ran 3D one more time, and got a 214. Not to mention what I would assume to be artifacting throughout the bench. Looked like rows and rows of shadows in various shapes. Any thoughts?

Fried card perhaps? Overclocking that card won't help to be honest. You have slow and then slow.
Check to make sure that you don't have it set to your o/c speed at restart.
Look on the brightside. Even if it is fried, your out 30.00.

LOLAAHAHAHAHAHHAHA 250in 3dmark05.... i get 10k !!!! sry ... dont worry i feel ur pain i came from a 6600gt which was an upgrade from a 5200... i would use something more along the lines of 3dmark03 to benchmark because it will give you a more accurate score... with my 5200 i was able to do 300/477 with no artifacts.
But were those rows of shadows artifacting? I will try 03 to see what I get.

Hows that for a midrange upgrade? I really dont want to spend $250 for a faster card cause I am not ready to strip the Dell and rebuild. Still building whats in my sig.

The artifacting is usually caused from the memory being overclocked.Anyhow as far as the 7600gs goes,I have one and love it.Absolutely the perfect upgrade for you.
Good luck and have fun with it.
