User account deletion?

I keep trying to remove one of the user accounts from my computer (running XP pro) and every time i try and delete it the computer just makes lots of hard disk noises and does not delete the account.


Any ideas please.

Start | Run | Type cmd, and click OK | From the command prompt type...

net user X /delete

(X is replaced by the user name, ie. Bob... net user Bob /delete)

Are you having it delete the users files, or copy them elsewhere? If it is copying them, it may take a while, in which case the HD will be actively moving files around. Try to delete the account in safe mode?
