I have a Milennium Glaciator 2 and it keeps on loosing contact with parts of the CPU. I used the stock clamp that came with the HSF, but it just doesnt seem to hold the HSF securely to the processor. If I lay the case on its side so gravity is helping, my temps drop by up to 10C!!!! Any ideas on how to get it so the hsf is secure when my case is upright?

Here's a thought: stick a little something to act as a riser on the inside of the fins of the heatsink for the clip to sit on. This way, the clip needs to be stretched further to be attached and should add more pressure to the cpu core. Just make sure you put something in there that will stay and put even pressure over the whole core. That's the simplest solution I can think of.

...or you could just leave your computer on its side...

a lapped copper shim should do the trick....

I like both ideas, but the shim would also protect my processor from cracking, so i think ill go with that. So, you really think that will make a big difference? Do any of you know of a good place to get copper shims for low prices?

you can find them around, New Egg has them. I wouldn't recommend lapping the shim, you are likely to mess it up and risk frying your cpu. A good shim from a good company(newegg's are thermaltake's) will be fine for what you need.

Well, I used zipties to secure the HSF, and my temps are way down!

i had the same prob with my Glaciator, after removing it, figured out that the clip was backwards, so try maybe turning it aound in the HS, dropped my temps 20 c
