just aquired one and want to change my system over from my duron 800 and mobo (piece of sh!te)
have got 150 quid for a case, mobo and some ram (I am in the UK)
needs to be upgradable, stable and ata100
mostly burn and play games, dont mind o/b sound
over to you guys as I am sure you have plenty of suitable applicants for the job :)
Whats wrong with your Duron? Just get a A7V 266 for it and it'll run way better and the 266 chipset will support the Thunderbirds..
Anyways if you want to swap to best mobo..
I would recommend:
Asus CUSL2-C..
Abit BE6 2 ...
... Those are the best two boards for that chip but for the BE6 2 you will need a slotket.
Abit VH6T, can't say enough good things about this board and it's chipset.
Oh, and the price is right :)

nowt wrong with the duron, just the mobo - Jetway piece of crap
very unreliable (could be all the software I use aswell LOL)
just got this cpu for free and figured I could use it for me and let my son have this system (not my Plex though)
just felt there was a shedload of socket A mobo's and not so many for the p3 (demand me thinks), so was a bit difficult to decide
on the memory side of things, is ddr worth a look? (love more speed - must be a male thing)

I don't recall there being any DDR chipset's for Intel's Pentium 3 chips... I know there's plans for the P4.
DDR's bandwidth is superior to SDRAM's, but I still haven't seen evidence that would suggest we use much of this anyway (since processing speeds are so high and little needs to be pushed through in clumps larger than 300MB).

thanks Pinky, as always you come up with the goods (creep creep)
gonna go do some shopping tomorrow, good on software, crap at hardware
could always flog the p3 (m8 offered 50 quid) and add 30 and get aTbird 1.2 :)
decision time LOL
(componenst are to cheap now, makes it nigh on impossible to choose)
