That's in Counter-Strike (cl_showfps has limit of 99)

If you have a limit in Quake 3 (which you probably do) the the command com_maxfps 500 will set maxfps at 500fps which no one can get so your good :).

I set mine at 85 cause I like consistency.

Becareful with the com_maxfps setting. It can have an effect on your gameplay. Some people swear that by turning that setting down they have been able to move, strafe, jump, aim, shoot better... just letting ya'll know that.

I swear by it, thats why mines set at 85.

If it jumps from 85 to 250 (which it does if I maxfps 10,000 :)) I notice and difference and it feels wierd.

I don't need more than 85 FPS, ever, so keeping it steady there keeps the game very consistent.

Anyone know if it's possible to limit fps in Need for Speed 4? My video card is too modern for the game and I usually get around 40 but when it surges up to 60fps the jerky motion makes it difficult to control the car sometimes, it's actually easier playing it on my K6-2 because my 8meg AGPX2 card is rated for the game and won't "surge" with a burst of increased frame rate.

Just a hint for all Q3 players ... lock the FPS@125 .. (/com_maxfps 125) .. that will give you the ultimate movement and improve your speedjumps.. higher FPS just makes it harder to move around good..
