I recently purchased XP PRO and I was somewhat startled that I could not load XP on my 2 computers. I called M$ and the Activation service rep said that I would have to purchase an additional license. When I asked how much an additional license was, she said $81 well, compared to the $200 already spent I figured what's another $81? Well, after going to M$'s website they list additional licenses for $189!!!! not $81!!!.

So, can anyone tell me how to get an additional license for home use or should I just go buy another copy? By the way, I have seen XP for $99.00 but it is the Student version. Should that be another alternative to buying an additional license?

Thanks for the help.

I don't know the answer but I sure would like to know a way to activate it on 2 of my comps,I also did not know this until after purchasing it and I have 4 computers in my home that I use and am always switching OS from one to the other and switching hardware from one to another and I believe it's done by some type of hardware config which means I would have to keep a majority of my hardware together but, which ones I don't know. This really bites because I have 11 processors that I am forever messing around with to get the best OC for each system. If it uses the cpu as part of the recognition than there will be no more swapping in a cpu to test it's performance with this OS.What are they gonna do next?

From what I heard, you could change up to 6 different hardware pieces. Which means, by M$, that once you change your CPU, you can change it as much as you want, as it counted only the first time, not the others. By M$ sources, donno in practice !
