New P5W DH BIOS - 1407

It's unknown as to what effects it has, maybe it will do everything that the hugely disappointing 1405 failed to do...

I flashed it, and upon booting into XP, the OS finds the wireless adapter (which I don't need / use). Up to now, I always wondered why this thing never showed up in the hardware list, and there is no "enable / disable" in bios for it.

I assumed you had to install the SW for it before the OS would even detect its existance. (which I never did 'cause I didn't want it installed).

Anyway, Windows will now find this thing with this BIOS, if anybody is interested.

Still FSB limited to 407, as all BIOS versions have been - didn't try anything else, though, so far.

What was your board limited to before? Using 1305, I topout @ 430 w/ an upgraded Chipset cooler.

Personally;

FSB Before; 430
FSB After; 430

I'm getting a bit bored of BIOS releases that don't appear to do anything.

0903 bios works best for me

btw-

I have tried all the dam bios'. Using a vapochill LS and the only bios that lets me get above 3.56 with an E6700 is the 0903 bios. I can hit 3.86 easily and booted at 4.16 with again the 0903

BTW the 1407 is now an official bios... u can download it asus's site!

can someone explain what all the peg modes do? I was wondering because I have a 7900gtx and saw that note added to the new bios. Thanks!

Ya kno this little know site called google has this really stupid weird thing called "search" does n e one know any thing about it.. i thought i would try to see if it could help... and OMFG it did

Pretty much it ever so slightly overclocks your gfx card...

it might help someone get the extra 100pts in a 3dmark benchmark... but other than that its use less...

Ima go enable it real quick to see if it changes my clocks... brb.

sry for double posting.... but i went and downloaded the new bios.... and all it did for me was make windows relize the wireless lan card.... and BTW peg link mode is stupid.... causes soooo much instability... locked up my computer when i was trying to acccess my raid 1 partition... and silly me i have write back chaching on... so now it has to verify the WHOLE disk... which is very time consuming.... n e ways its stupid dont mess with.

Sorry next time I won't ask computer question on a computer forum.... it's not an everyday asked questions and I thought someone could go into it in a little more detail on what actually it does, and how it effects actual computer performance.

rrr this wireless lan thing is starting to **** me off... everytime i start up... WOULD YOU LIKE TO INSTALL THE HARDWARE... eventhough the computer is ALREADY connected via ethernet to the internet..

there is no way to disable it at the time. I ended up removing the card.
