Following Netcraft there was a significant gap in terms of overall effectiveness: the third-place technology scored 106 of a possible 200, while the last-place technology scored 3 of 200 Other phishing technologies analyzed include (in alphabetical order) EarthLink ScamBlocker, the eBay Toolbar, GeoTrust TrustWatch, Google Safe Browsing on Firefox, McAfee SiteAdvisor, and Netscape Browser,” revealed 3Sharp.

“3Sharp LLC tested eight browser-based products to evaluate their overall accuracy in catching 100 live confirmed phishing websites over a six week period (May – July 2006) and also understand the false-positive error rate on 500 good sites. Anti-Phishing is more of a function of common sense and a distrust of 'it's too good to be true' ads.

I also get several emails a day saying crap like "Your eBay or pay-pal account has been suspended" and other such tripe.

I've tried IE7 a few times and the UI just annoys me after awhile and I end up going back to FF. Faster Fox and No Script pretty much shut down unwanted pop ups and redirects.

Whether it's easy for you to see when it's fake or not many people still have a problem with it, and that is why Phishing is so popular today.
