I am relatively new to overclocking, but here goes anyway. I am overclocking my t-bird 1000. when i get to 1090, and run a 3d test, my system locks up. I have read where people are overclocking to 1400. Am I doing something wrong. I am not adjusting the multiplier at all. And i haven't done the pencil trick either. Are either of these necessary.

thanks,

bulldog

There are a lot of variables. It would help if you would post all of your system specs, mobo, memory, power supply, etc.

I have an Athlon 1.0Ghz running at 1.130, which is the highest mine will go right now. I would be happy to give you a tip or two...

I'm with Flounder. We gotta know all of your main components to give you any kind of advice. Also, I would read some of the articles and the database on the front page.

I had a Gigabyte GA7 ZX and there was no way to change the multiplier or the core voltage on the MoBo. The only adjustment available was the FSB (FrontSide Bus) and I was lucky to get a 113Mhz FSB. Are you sure that your board offers the facility to change the multiplier?

I' ve got my 1.0 T-bird up to 1.130 just like Flounder without increasing anything but the multiplier but after that my puter locks up
lowered it to 1.1
been running stable for about 2 1/2 weeks now
have no real way of testing it except CPU math mark
