Region code on PS3 ?

I been looking around the net trying to find an up-to date statement on the region codes for the PS3... I've found some sites saying that the US will share a region with japan.... is this statement still correct???

and ... will movies be playable as well as the games??

I live in japan so maybe i can get mine earlier ...but that's only if i can play both movies and games...

any help is appreciated!!

Yeah it is rumored that PS3 will be region free, so you can import games without needing to buy a mod chip... IMO great for those shoot em up or what not games.

I am pretty sure that's what's goin on, i could be wrong.

it will be region free for games but we dont know if thats true for movies yet.
