An RTS to replace SC?

I went to a lan party on Saturday, and discovered Company of Heroes.

It was like SC+BF1942.

I "have" the game now, haven't played it much since Saturday since I'm rearranging my apartment for the projector, but does anyone else want to fill me in on how good the multiplayer is online for CoH?

I think I might go buy this game, but I don't want to make the same mistake I did with AoEIII.

If you've played Starcraft, how does it compare?

I only played CoH for about 5 minutes, the demo drops you into D-Day and it was ridiculous. Uninstall ftw. I believe Supreme Commander is going to be the next big RTS, Total Annihilation had a good online community so I'm sure it will have lots of multiplayer.

I thoroughly enjoyed the campaign although it was quite trivial. Multiplay is fun as well, but is lacking in many areas that make a game 'truly competitive.' It is no war3 but it wasn't trying to be and in no way is that a bad thing. High level play is disgustingly trite anyway so I wouldn't dwell too much on the fact it isn't likely to ever see play in $-prize tournaments.

Warcraft 3 had too much focus on the heroes. I want to see a blood bath, not some wizard casting -edit- spells. Thats why Starcraft will always have a special place in my heart. <3 Non stop hot action.

I think they are coming out with a new command and conquer game in 2007. C&C Red alert was a great RTS, its no starcraft, but it might be what youre looking for.

omg company of heroes is awesome, i just got it yesterday and i been playing it nonstop lol, and me and my cousin was lanning at my house against the computer and it was awesome. i never really play games like these but company of heroes is awesome gfx are nice and story line is awesome :).

I find Dawn Of War great on a LAN. With the upped unit limit of course. Like having an entire chapter at your disposal. Can't wait for Dark Crusade. :beer:

If you want mass carnage... go onto Starcraft Broodwars, find games called "Zero Clutter 3v3 No Rush 20". Then imagine 10 control units of attack forces attacking per player. If you don't know what a control unit is, you haven't played SC enough. :bday:

no lmao i really cant stop playing this game. explosion are awesome and nade kills too. I have starcraft and warcraft 3 and i tried those out and didnt really like them. starcraft is good but company of heroes owns it


i own dawn of war as well and the expansion, i find coh alot better

Still when you get the urge to kill all...its a good game;).

I need to download the CoH demo... Supremem Commander does look awesome.

I picked up CoH a few weeks ago, and its pretty good all around, although I haven't done online mp yet. I don't think anything will replace Star Craft/Brood Wars in my heart though. I still play it today, and love it as much as I did when I first got it, and it's the only game I have that I can really say that about.

Ah yes Starcraft. Probably the only game in the world that is still getting patches 8 years after its release (I love the new icon for BW!)

I just hate hackers on SC though. You can tell when it starts lagging really bad due to it. That and when you go to save the replay, if anyone was using hacks it crashes SC. Last night I played a 45 minute game, 3v3 0Clutter NR20. (Shared base map)

It was a single mineral stack map. I was short on minerals the whole game. One of the players on the opposite team was hacking. To cut a long story short, they were 2 Zerg, 1 terran, we were 1 Zerg(me) and 2 protoss. They were pushing ground hard on us at first, but I killed most of them off with my lurker and defiler micro skill(Important note: Plague does NOT work when map is maxed, but dark swarm does). We held them off and eventually pushed back and killed them.

I love it when I have good teammates who can cover my rear when I'm rebuilding units.

Did I mention I hate hackers? I've been accused of using mass hack, but that's because I use hotkey unit assigns.

I started playing command and conquer generals and its the best thing since starcraft!

I was like playing Zero Hour right..I was like playing Clan Wars right and I'm all like playing Carnage, he's like Laser USA right..and he's like coming in at my base and he's got all these laser tanks right.. he's like..'cause I'm like Vanilla GLA right and I like put a saboteur in his power and I come in from behind like.. I'm just like blowing up all the laser tanks right..and then my Jarmen he's like sniping and his Pathfinders are like "why can't you hit my Jarmen?" I'm like "too bad buddy! my Jarmen's on a bike!" right, so I'm like..Pathfinder dead! Pathfinder dead! Pathfinder dead! Just gave him some spanks

I've been hooked on the Supreme Commander beta over the last few days, it's definitely the RTS to replace Starcraft-the graphics are unrivaled and the gameplay is equally as good. I just love the nukes :D
