I don't know how long this has been going on, but something seems to be going ary.

When I plug my USB stick or my sony cell phone (has a memory stick in it, and therefore uses USB drivers and storage drivers to be used) It gives me driver errors through device manager.

Saying that it can't find drivers for either device.

So, here is what device manager looks like for each instance.

What are you all thinking? I don't know how a couple .inf files could have disappeared.

Here's another strange problem in relation to driver issues. It seems that the cabinet files filled with preset drivers have gone missing..somehow. Because it no longer gives me a choice of companies/whatever to choose from when I choose to select the driver myself. See

Thanks

Did you try uninstalling the devices and reinstalling the drivers.

uh huh, it's like the drivers don't exist. They aren't found when I try searching for them.

They certainly include drivers for USB 2.0 and sony memory sticks. This has worked before, just not anymore.

What Cell phone are you using? I have a Sony Ericcson mobile the V630i and I plug it into my PC and pass music across. When I plugged it into my PC the 1st time it came up with "Found New Hardware" I didn't install the PC Suite cause that's just using space for no reason.

Why would I want it when I can just drag & drop MP3's anyways I just put my CD-ROM I got with the phone into my DVD drive. And just manually installed the drivers by scanning the disc it installed the drivers for everything that was classed as new hardware.

So you could just try that see if that would work?

Try reinstalling the latest v5.10 nForce2 chipset drivers for the EP-8RDA3+ (assuming this is the board you're having problems with), available from nVidia here...

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_udp_winxp_5.10.html

... and SP1 is a requirement of the above chipset drivers, or USB 2.0 won't be supported.

I just reinstalled them two days ago, all except the IDE SW drivers.

I am running SP2, with all recent updates...

Its a sony W800i. I guess I will try to reinstall the software...once again..

Go here for the latest version of The Sony Ericcson PC suite it includes the drivers for your phone.

Best to have the latest version which is 1.7.10.
