it seems for some reason at my friends house one of his comps has to constantly have the ip repaired, the dns is specified the ip is static. but things die and have to be repaired, not sure wtf is going on here.. on another note of severe importance 2 computers with tightvnc are setup on different ports, 1 can be accessed from the outside, the other cant even be contacted locally. the router is setup for the forwards correctly and nothing, any ideas?

edit
info you might need also,
only software for routing and firewall is bitdefender on this system and the other has norton, the firewall zonealarm on the router is turned off, the router is running dhcp but we staticed the ips under the range it gives out and forwarded appropiatly.

1) Is the router running DHCP? If so why is he using static IP's?

2) Check the client firewall settings/exceptions (if enabled on XP)

the reason for dhcp is for the other comps, only these 2 need the static for vnc and the server.
