i remember seeing some back in my watercooling days, didn't seem to practical, but i was hoping that there might have been some development in it..
i have a loud power hungry P4 laptop, 2.4ghz. cleaning it, using AS5, and replacing the fan helped out, but it still bugs me.

heres my idea, i could use a small gpu cooler on the cpu which will be in a closed loop system with a large, but thin aluminum heatsink which i will machine and attach to the back of the monitor. the problem is the pump, if i need to use one, it'll have to be very small and inline and will have to be powered off 5v (usb). do u think its possible to rely on natural convection to move the water? it seemed to work fine on some watercooling experiments (accidents) that i had in the past. obviously i dno't plan on overclocking (i don't even think i can with this lappy) just try to get it quiet.

Sometimes in the pursuit of bling and coolness, you really make things worse off than they were. This is one of those times. I would not bother, but that's me. It seems like people get a little too caught up with the idea of watercooling and cooling in general. I've been there myself. I'm sure people will chastise me for my thoughts on the matter though. :)

not just bling, trying to kill time and get back into watercooling.

Man I really like this idea... Post pictures when you get to it!

If you can make your own bracketing hardware, a GPU cooler will more than suffice.

sounds like a neat idea.. I'd never attempt such a thing

I would love to do this to a lappy, lol

A block like this http://svc.com/cpu-300-h06-18.html
or this http://svc.com/apogee-1u775.html

Would be perfect for you.

As for a pump? What about a submegiable one that you can mount inside of the res. you are going to make? Or buy a pump/res like this and make it nice and fancy on the outside. http://svc.com/mcres-1000p.html or http://svc.com/rp-1000bk.html

Or even, what about one of those kits, wc202 or whatever

And a rad like this one http://svc.com/-radiator-676-3-8inch-28.html that can easily be mounted to the back of your monitor

Iv thought this out a lot. lol

I couldn't agree more. Watercooling a laptop makes absolutely no sense due to the very nature and design of a laptop. I see no way of doing it that wouldn't turn it into a monster.

I am not sure how feasible it is to cool a P4 2.4ghz with just passive radiator/heatsink...
