I wanted a black stacker when I got mine, but could not find one at the time. For just under a year I have looked at my case
wishing it was all black but too scared of screwing up the paint if I did it myself.
Well I finally grew a pair and started a project that I could enjoy.
--------------"Blacker Stacker"---------------
This is my old setup and stock stacker.
http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/2894/dscf1175jq9.jpg (http://img243.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf1175jq9.jpg)
I started early one Saturday and ripped the old RIG down to parts and pieces and started cutting the stock blow hole to fit a 120mm fan, trying to use the stock mesh cover that came on the back 120mm fan and add a fill port. And if you didn't already notice I forgot to take some photos along the way. As in it's now black. All the cuts were made before paint.

After banging my big hands against the power supply rack, it had to go.
http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/5434/dscf1522wu0.jpg (http://img145.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf1522wu0.jpg)
Next it was time to see if I knew how to read a tape. The fillport and res didn't hit, lucky me.
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/985/dscf1523jz2.jpg (http://img218.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf1523jz2.jpg)
Next I started to see how lighting was going to look. Yes I like blue. Black and blue, maybe I should call it "Bruiser".
http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/783/dscf1529vc0.jpg (http://img180.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf1529vc0.jpg)

More to come.

Thank you. I still want to change a few things, like the power for the v-cards and add ram sinks to the v-cards. I think I should change the yellow ide to a black ribbon and fold him out of site behind the mobo. EDIT: I started looking at the pics and thought,"Doh! I didn't post a photo with the yellow ide cable in it". lol. Boy do I feel stupid.:bang head :bang head :bang head

and throw a dual BLUE cold cathode kit in there.

looking smick.

looks like you got quite the kink going GPU->GPU.

Otherwise, very nice setup. Although I do prefer red on black. Red's just too hard to find though.

I've added spring raps since the pics, I had noted the kinks as soon as I leak tested the system. TY for the heads up though.
Blue for me.

Looking great! I was in the same boat. I couldn't find the black version locally when I bought my case. I'd like to paint mine black as well in the future. I've also thought about enlarging the top fan to 120mm, but I've settled for cutting out the mesh screen and putting in a better 80mm fan for now. In the future, I think I might put a PA120.3 radiator up there if I ever put aside the money to buy one.

ok that is a kickass nice looking case. you just spray painted it and thats all. how many fans do you have? thats a nice looking case. if i gets too hot will the paint melt? tell me the steps. i want that case. O have a question about water cooling. If i plan on getting a coolermaster case, does the mobo have to support the cooling or is it the power supply. I dont really know much about cooling. can you tell me the basics. thanks for you help.

HAHAHA! No. The paint won't melt. One of the ways to quickly cure paint is to bake the finish on in an oven, so no, you won't ever have a risk of paint melting. Paint doesn't melt anyway. Not only that, but the only time a computer case would get that hot, would be in a fire. One power supply can do everything. Just make sure you have a decent/beefy PSU to power everything. I'm running a 600Watt Silverstone modular PSU to power 7 120mm fans, 1 80mm fan, my pump, GPU, CPU/MB, 2 Hard drives, and CD-ROM. Then there's my external Firewire DVD burner and my cellphone which even charges off of USB.

For me the Cooler Master Stacker was the only case that fit my needs.
Yes I spray painted the case and side panels. I used Epoxy enamel spray paint. The paint I used takes a long time to cure, like 24 hours, but the finish was worth the wait and it's a durable finish as well. It's the kind of finish that you would find on a file cabinet, that the closest I can think of.
If you do want to get the case, the best price I have found is @ http://www.svc.com/promotions.html I have bought a lot of parts from them over the years and never had a problem.
As far as the steps to painting look at the stickys and ask those who know better than me, honestly I winged it and got lucky.
Now on to the other question about water cooling, read all this (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=356038) and get back to me. I'm not trying to be rude to you but you need to read before you ask so you can make informed questions.
The power supply is just that, a power supply, not the motherboard. The mobo feeds from the power supply and so does everything else.
If you dont know much about cooling in general you should also read (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=287576) and then (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=70679http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=70679)
once you have read all that you will be much more informed.

Might have to try that on my next case since I have about 3 cans sitting in the garage from blacking out little things on my sisters car when we painted it.

hey rig rider, when youpainted the mobo tray, did you mask off the thread-holes for the standoffs?
im worried that layingon a big coat with them opened, that they will clog and my standoffs will get stuck or not even fully screw in.

watcha do?

um just my opinion but, you dont have to paint the tray or atleast the screw holes ur gonna use, its gonna be covered by the mobo, but all u do is, roll up little bits of tape and stick them in the holes

I just screwed old standoffs in from the back and went paint happy. Let the paint cure before removing them.

same here. probably once summer roles around. i wanted the black one but it was cheaper for me to pick one up locally than to buy it online and ship it. plus i'm kind of a take it home now and set it up guy. sometimes i'll even pay a little more just to walk out of a store with it instead of waiting on the fedex man.

LOL. I'm glad I'm not the only one that does that. That's most of the reason that I had to paint my silver stacker black due to my lack of patients.
