Ok, I have a Dell Inspiron laptop.
It's a P3-450 it has 256 Megs of Ram.
I currently have Win98, Linux and XP loaded on it.
I am finding that XP is a bit bloated and Sluggish at times.
Do any of you think that Win2K would be more responsive for me ??

From my experience Win2000 feels a lot more 'lively' than an untweaked WinXP which is probably due to it not being so bloated. I found that WinXP's performance improved a lot once tweaked so this could also be an option for you check out www.tweakxp.com for more information

Already did that....
I'm with you. With XP the system even after being tweaked and turning of all the useless services just feels slugish yet, like there's just to much going under the hood. I myself belive that you should have well over 256 megs of ram to really get the full speed out of XP.
On the other hand, Win 2000 seems very smooth, fast, and very reliable to me, Even before you do any tweaking. I actually prefer it over Win XP. As far as compatibility I haven't run into any yet that I haven't run into with Win XP.

How well does it run older/DOS games ?
Could'nt tell ya from my own experiences. I play mostly all newer games which I have no troubles with. From what I've heard Win 2K won't play older dos games to well though.

Win2k won't play old DOS games that require Real Mode DOS. That's where DOS wants to talk to the hardware by itself, but the new NT5 Kernel won't let it do that.
i would delete all the windows junk and just have the whole drive for Linux :). Just my opinion. Seriously though, although I have immense trouble with Win2k Pro, I still think it is a better OS. It is so much faster then any other Window's OS in my opinion. Also I don't know how anyone can stomach that new GUI for XP. Looks too much like a POS Mac .
You can change the way the GUI looks though. Just make it look like "clasic windows". Only thing that's would be a little different is a few Icons maybe.

So the popular opinion is to waste XP off my laptop.
I run XP on my tower that I use at home, and I don't have any complaints there, but then again, it's loaded with RAM.
I have noticed a system slowdown when I burn a CD.
I do not get the slowdown in 98SE.
Than you all for the help, now I'll have to load 2K.
