i did a search and found questions on this subject but none just like mine. i am running win 98se. last night i installed win 2k on a seperate partition (partition magic) so i can dual boot. it worked fine and i swiched between os's several times, ended on win98 and it was working fine. this morning i turned on the comp and when it got to "verifying dmi pool data" it said ".|.. " and it hung.
this same thing has happened before for no apparent reason (i don't have to have just installed another os)
i use drive image and have a image of my c drive in pristine condition with all drivers and important programs on it. under normal circumstances i reinstall with it and it works fine but after i get the "dmi .|..) problem the image seems to install fine but when i restart i get the same thing ".|.." . if i reinstall from my win 98 cd before i install my image it will work, but this is a pain. any idea why i get the " dmi .|.." problem and why doesn't my image work without reinstalling win98 first. thanks

Images can corrupt or be corrupt. That would be the only thing I can think of.

Hardware conflicts always would cause me to hang there but never an OS.
