Ok, here is the deal I have a Promise TX4300 that runs flawlessly in an older motherboard that doesn't have onboard sata. I got another TX4300 for my dad to put into his NF7-S v2.0. The problem I am running into is it will work for a little while then stop working. I flashed the bios to a newer version on the NF7. I have tried disabling the onboard sata on the NF7 and it still happens. Here is the really strange part... when the TX4300 stops working so does the onboard sata. If I go into the bios and look at integrated peripherals there is no "Onboard PCI Device" tab in the bios anymore. If I pull the card out or reset the bios the "Onboard PCI Device" comes back and the TX4300 and onboard sata will work fine for a little bit. Anyone have any ideas on this? I don't know what else to try and this is hard to test because it will work fine and then just stop. I have my NF7-S that I could test in but it’s hard to tell if its working right since it will work fine for a while and then not. My dad's NF7-S has worked flawlessly until I put the TX4300 in it.

Why do you need to that card anyway?

Another suggestion would be to flash to an updated mobo BIOS that contains an updated SATA BIOS which may help. Try this one:

ALso try multiple PCI slots, I had the this issue with the second SATA controller that I bought. Then it just decided to quit acting dumb for some reason... Try the 3rd PCI slot up from the bottom.

Mine is the same Silcone chip as the NF7-s has, though... What chip does the promise have?

Well right now I think it has D26 bios on it. I will try that other one though.

I have tried 3 different pci slots but I guess I can try all of them.

I just thought of something else. Isn't SATA bios 4276 supposed to be not as stable as 4227?

I haven't heard of any problems with it. The only one that does have problems is the 4227 i believe. The 425* ( i think ) has been very stable too.
