firewire networking?

Does anyone know of any good (preferably free) software that would enable me to network my 2 comps together? I am running Win2k Pro, but also, does anyone know of anything for Linux? I found one piece of software (can't remeber the name) but is looked like you needed a special type of firewire card, I already have my cards. Also, if you try to network with 1394b, will it still work the same? Thanks in advance.

Windows itself already has software built in to network computers together. :D

there was a cd that came with a copy of maxiumPC about 4 weeks a go and it had firewire network software on it

im user if you contact the magazine people they well be able to head you in the right direction
