I think I've had this problem before which was solved with a spyware clean up... but nothing seems to work this time.

Basically...I've done 5 google searches, opened this forum, hit "Post new thread", and my "Network Status Window" shows 231,667 uploaded bytes, 1,220,319 downloaded bytes.

I've used this internet connection without having this problem, have not changed any security/firewall settings, and have run:

Lavasoft Adware
Symantec Corp Antivirus
& AVG Virus scan

...multiple times.

Anyone know how to fix this, or monitor what program these excessive bytes are leaking from?

Any help would be appreciated, thx.

start -> run type cmd

netstat -b

Good place to start, it will tell you what programs are connected to what IPs

I think NetLimiter tells you what bandwidth each program is using as well. I haven't used it in a while but I think it's free

You have memory leaking from your pipes. You must apply a patch immediately or risk a "pingflood" the likes of which the earth has never seen. If and when the internet runs dry I plan to hold you personally responsible. :(

Eh.. anyhow, download, update and run Spybot S&D (http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html), and run a hijackthis (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php) scan (with logfile) and post the log here -> this would allow us to see what you have running and help eliminate possible causes of your problem.

Additionally, it might help to check process explorer (http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html) to see what is accessing what on your system. It's probable that anything (other than the "system idle process") that's sucking up your cpu cycles *might* be problematic, and you can identify those processes through that program or task manager (ctrl+alt+delete).

Personally, I don't see that as much if any of an issue, but you probably do have some unnecessary crap running in the background (or maybe even a bittorrent client) that you could stand to lose.

Nope, I get crazy data flowin off a fresh boot.

Think this might have started after installing BitLord, but I've uninstalled, deleted all the files, and done my cleaning sweeps.

I'll installed those progs tonight...

(just after checking a couple text emails, and posting this, my received bytes are up to 2,652,232. Definitely not normal)
