I have a via apollo pro133 chipset and I'm having trouble getting 2x apg to work. I have it enabled in the bios, and I just installed the lastest agp drivers from via. Windows still has it at 1x. Does anyone know of any registry strings or programs to force a 2x agp rate. My setup is radeon VE, via apollo pro133, on win 2k. I know for nvidia cards there is a registry string that forces 2x agp, I'm hoping there is one for ATI.

didnt you get the option to install the GART from via 4in1 in TURBO mode? this one will enable AGP 2x.
you will probably find a registry entry in your motherboard software CD. unfortunately i cant remember where it is but surely into some folder you can find the entry. make a search on the cd for the registry files and u will know when you find out it.

Thats the thing, I never got a choose for turbo mode. If you look in the readme, it says "you may get promted for normal or turbo mode" Maybe cause I'm in 2k, they didn't make a turbo driver.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\VxD\VIAGART]
"SideBand"=hex:01,00
"OEMVersion"=hex:00,00

Thats the only registry string on the cd.

no, there isnt a turbo option for 2k but it should enable it anyway. apollo pro133 can only work with up to 2x for the agp?
i have the 133a which works with AGP4x and when installing GART from via 4in1 on W2k it enables 2x, then i force 4x with a nvidia tweak program.
what r u using to check it running at 1x?

sandra and powerstrip show 1x. I wonder if my board could do 4x APG, but it's limit is 2x I think.

Get the GeForce Tweaker from www.guru3d.com

It has an option to set the AGP speed to Auto, 1*, 2*, or 4*, plus loads of other features.

To bad the VE is the outcast of the radeons, all the radeon tweaking programs don't fully sopport it, and it seems I can't find anything on ppl that OC it.

try 4x, im pretty sure that both via apollo pro133 chipset and the VE support it, unless Via really made goign form the pro133 to pro133a an upgrade.....

well as soon as I find a way to change the agp speed i will. The bios doesn't change anything and the only progs are for nvidia cards only. Can anyone help me?

the bios settings dont matter to windows though. My bios has 2x enabled, plus I dont have a floppy drive.

:DVICTORY!!!:D

I didn't see the "read only" box in powerstrip when it diplayed adapter properties. Damn, I love powerstrip!, no option for 4x, and I don't think my board could do it anyway. Well 2X is good for me.
