Cool, you can all call me now :)
If have tried calling the country of Colombia without success.
United Kingdom seems to work though.
EDIT: Edited for spelling correction.
Note: some users on the Slickdeals.net forums have alleged charges apearing on their phone bill after using the service.

Wow.. that will come in handy one day.. but by the time that day comes it wont be free anymore... All these free things come to a end.. like free dial up internet.. and so on.
Thank you. I'll no longer be a slave to Skype ;)

hm, this works within the US as well ? (US to US ?)
Lionsault, there would be no point. You call an iowa number, and then from there you get the phone call free to one of their countries.
If it worked in the USA, you'd pay long distance to call the iowa number, and then get the connected call free.
Those noticing charges were just seeing normal long distance charges. They recommend using a phone that has free domestic long distance so the entire call is free.

One would not necessarily pay long distance to Iowa (think of an Iowa resident).

That's because they are to stupid to read the way the service works. It says in black and white that the call to Iowa could be a charge call for some people. Many people have unlimited calls to anywhere in the USA, others have free nights and weekends to call long distance for free. Once the Iowa call is placed, be it free or a long distance call, then the call transfers to the overseas number for free.
If they are to stupid to understand that it's possible that they may incur long distance charges to call Iowa, then that's their fault. It's not like that information is not in black and white, these people need to learn to read how the service is set up.

I can call there for free anyway, I have a Vonage IL virtual number ;)

Even with Vonage a call to Ukraine would cost me $.13 cents a minute
Ukraine 380 $0.13
...And Kazakhstan.
YAGSHEMACH! lol
With Vonage, a call to Kazakhstan would cost me even more, $.17 cents a minute.
Kazakhstan 730-33, 7338, 7570-71, 7573 $0.17
What's strange is I looked to see what a virtual number would cost for Ukraine or Kazakhstan and see they don't offer them, even stranger is I was able to get one for the Mid East for $4.99 a month, but they took off these options for new customers.....Glad I got it when I did I suppose :)
Usually IDT has cheap rates, but Vonage kicks their ass for calling Ukraine and Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan
IDT Worldsaver Everywhere 31.1¢ per minute
IDT Basic International 94.1¢ per minute
Ukraine
IDT Worldsaver Everywhere 20¢ per minute
IDT Basic International 34.4¢ per minute
thx man this help so much i just use skype free to call that us number and call Hungary from there it works like a charm!
Guys if you dont have a free long distance use Skype.com and that is free for US,Canada, mexico. That is what i do!
use Skype.com and that is free for US,Canada, mexico. Not true.
Skype should not charge for calls placed within United States of America or Canada to United States of America or Canada through the year ending 2006.
I have a question, is it a charge for people you call overseas? Like, almost a collect call? Other than abbonement of course..
i know that skype dont charge within the us

I use Yahoo PhoneIn/Out.
Its not free... Costs $2.99 a month for a phone number, and 2 cents aminutes for calls to US/canada.. international rates vary, but UK is 2 cents also I believe.
I have had it for 3 months now and used 80 cents of my initial 10 dollar phone out card :) (I also picked a 609 number so that its a lcoal call for my family back home :) )
wow... hit is hawt... gonna tell mom

No, the only charge you could be charged is the call from your location to Iowa. Then the call is routed to overseas for free.

used for a while now http://www.voipstunt.com/en/index.html
i never paid anything and the great thing about it is that it calls the destination number and it can call you number too at the same time (connect you and your destination) so you don't have to talk on the computer with the headset. i like this one better because i'm sure of what i'm doing since it is a skype type of program that shows how many minutes and what such things. since i never entered any credit card infos, they say that i do not have enough credit when i try to make a phone call that is not free.
now the dirty: "Max 300 minutes per week of free calls, measured over the last 7 days. Unused free minutes cannot be taken to the following week(s)."

What I mean to say, is it a charge for the person I am calling? I am okay with it being free for me, but I want to make sure it's free for the person I am calling too and the charges aren't just being dumped on them.
