I need a heatsink for my athlon 1.4 ghz, but i don't know which to get. I'm looking for something with good to excellent porfermence and that is quiet.

Also, i'm trying to order everything from the same store, here is the list of coolers available http://www.gbcomp.com/cooler.htm

Thank you.

I would tell you to get the SWIFTECH MC462A but its $115 at that store...or it looks like a canadian company so i don't know how much money that is.

Why do you want to buy everything from the same place? If you can get US stores to ship to you at a decent price then you end up saving money by buying it from lots of differant places. the place that has a good price for your motherboard probably has a $40 higher price for the CPU than you could pay elsewhere, and some websites give you little or no shipping reduction for ordering it all at once.

out of those choices i would get the Vantec all coper 6035, that swiftech is the best, but just too expensive....also if you dont plan on ocing too much the Volcano 6Cu is a good choice (not the + that has a loud fan)....

Quiet, cool, and overclocked, that's my goal for the 1st system I'm building. After recently receiving some very helpful advise in this forum and then reading a few other posts and articles, I bought the Alpha 8045 hs for $35.00 (without the fan at NewEgg). I plan on mounting a Top Motor 80x25mm auto-variable 7 speed fan when it arrives from Best Byte Computers ($6.00). And, I plan on ducting the exhaust from this fan to a side panel vent. I've been told this hs works best when its heat is pulled away from it. Bottom line: I've learned a top performing hs should be a priority if overclocking and/or a quiet system is the goal, especially for the Athlons.
