Im looking for something sub 100 dollars thats PCI E.. Im currently keeping my eyes on this card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102040
But I may go with a 7600 GS.. this is for my main gaming rig ( in sig) since I need to get a new GPU quick to replace the onboard it has. Iv also looked at the 800GTO and I just cant decide... so many choices for the under 100 mark.

A 7600GS will walk all over an X1600. It's what I've got, and I'm pretty happy with it.

I've got the 7600GS too. For $90, you can get a 3D Fuzion from newegg and do anything you need, that's what I'm using. I can play Oblivion on 1680x1050, not at high settings though. Unless you can find a used 7600GT for like $100 then just go 7600GS.

Hm does the 7600GS require a power cable from the PSU?.. Im looking for soemthing that doesnt need that since my PSU molexs are all used as it is.

Nope... no extra power.

I have the XFX silent version. Awesome card :) Getting a nother ASAP.

Havent tried clocking it much yet, since it is a passive cooled card.

It's really a wonderful card... Shader Model 3.0... low power/high performance. So far it's done everything I've asked it to do. People have struggled with MS Flight Simulator X... I haven't. I've played BF2412 and just about everything else and it has all been smooth as ice. And for under a hundred bucks you DEFINATELY can't beat it.

Unlike the 9600 pro the X1600 was really a bit of a let down from ATi. I'd say follow the advice here and get a 7600GS or a 7600GT if you find a good deal.

How does the 7600GS compare to a x850PRO 12 pipe?

What does the 9600 Pro have to do with anything? lol

(Shouldnt this be in video section?)

I would try to go for 7600GT, it is definatly worth the extra $20. After all, it would take you an hour to earn the $20, but the performance of many hours of gaming will be worth it.

(Now, where was this linky for 7600GT for $120?)

Weird, I just installed an AGP XFX 7600GS 256MB card in my buddy's system, and it needed a 4 pin molex power plug...

I agree, but if you are on a strict budget the 7600GS is fine. I kind of wish I bought a 7600GT, but it isn't necisarry. I don't think the GT requires extra power either, but that should never be your limiting factor. There's splitters out there if you need them.

Yeah, a GT isn't worth the extra money at this point. If you're going to spend an extra TWENTY bucks then you might as well spend an extra HUNDRED and get a 7900GS. But the extra spending never stops, and the increase in framerate and all that (see my link above) isn't worth it.

Eh, I just thought I would get a better response here.. On a good gaming card then in other sections of the forums. And I do agree on the 7600 GT.. As long as I do NOT need extra power input for it.. Since im not looking to upgrade my PSU (again).
