Hi,

The fan of my ELSA Erazor X² (GF 256 DDR) seems to be a little stressed when I power up my pc, because it vibrates until I stop it shortly with my finger. After this there's no problem.
Tha card is about 1 and a half year old.

What do you think could be the problem?

You could try a little lubrication, peel back the sticker and if its not sealed you can put in a drop of silicone or teflon based oil.

Your other option is buy a small fan and replace it. (glue it on with superglue if no other option is possible.

Well, do you think that's the prob? Why does the sound disappear, when I stopped the fan - and never appears again until a cool(cold)? start.

I had sort of the same prob with a cheap old 486 cooler. It would start making much noise when I first booted, but if I kicked the case (hey, really old 486 computer) the noise would stop. The reason was found while disecting the fan. The bearings were worn out, so it would vibrate badly. But if I moved/stopped the fan while running, it would sometimes find a position where it didn't vibrate.

Oh, a word of caution, the reason for disecting the fan, was that some day the noise was gone! why? Becuse it didn't work anymore! And a geforce without coolig is quickly toast!
