I wish! My wife's best friend works there, and she mentioned something about a job opening for her. That means free classes for me! I'm over at DBCC! :(

not 10MB/sec [megabyte/second] for cable. (they are T1)

but there are 10Megabit/sec for cable.

i wanna run a dual MP system, using dual Athlon MP 1200mhz on a TYAN Thunder K7 MOBO. I can unlock both CPUs correct?

and the architecture of the XP and the MP is similar correct, but the diff is that the MP is made to work in combination with other systems...... right?

I have been changing the clock and multiplier. I think I'm at 145 x 10.5 = 1522.50. I had it at 152 x 10.5 = 1596 but it was very unstable.

I'm having problem trying to unlock my Athlon XP 1600+. I superglued the gaps and used conductive silver epoxy(from CrazyPC) to connect the bridges in L1. When I booted up, the CPU either shows up as a Athlon 1200MHz or AthlonXP 1444MHz(if i remember correctly). I got this on my first try so I did it again from scratch. I got the same thing. Could you help me out? Do you think is the silver epoxy(not being too conductive) or what am I doing wrong? Any tips! Thanks!

Current Setup:
Abit KR7A
AthlonXP 1600+@1.53GHz (10.5 x 145) 1.75v
Alpha PAL8045 w/Delta 68cfm
VisionTek Geforce3 Ti-200

I used the silver epoxy from crazy pc and didn't have much luck. Used white out for the non conductive fill. I think the epoxy seeped into the pits.

Will try a conductive pencil instead. http://www.web-tronics.com/2200-mtp.html with superglue for the pits.

I unlocked my two Xp chips using whiteout to fill in the bridges. Just apply one coat of whiteout and then wipe it off with acetone and repeat this about 3 times.make sure to wipe off all of it off the dots. Then using the TOm's Hardware method with the tape apply conductive paint to connect the bridges!! I dont recommend taking the tab on the corner off the chip as tom did! YOu'll never get it right on and if its off you might chip the core!!.
And apply some tape to protect !
Done!!

Does this have to be done with a 1900+?

What would happen if I did this with my 1600+? Would it go to a 1700 or right up to a 2000+?

Thanks

Your changing the FSB, not the multiplier.

If you leave you FSB alone, and change it like the video, you have an unlocked CPU. Meaning the Multiplier is changable.

Did you guys notice though, Tom doesn't show how he did the rest of the bridges just the first one. Why couldn't you put a piece of tape over the first one, and leave it, that way you wouldn't have to remove it and take a chance of pulling off the paint?, and do the same for the rest? I mean you'd end up with 5 pieces of tape, would that hurt anything?

JUST GOT MY MICRO-TIP CONDUCTIVE PEN. Try here http://www.hosfelt.com/Chemtronics%20Folder/Chemtronic%204.htm ,The pens are $11.50 kinda spendy for what you get but the tip is REALLY SMALL. Have not tried to unlock yet but if you have access to one of those MAGNIFYING lights, the kind that attaches to yur desk, it will sure help,( i use mine to tie flies!)

I think your problem is the white glue. White glue is not stable at higher temps and may have melted, shorting the bridges,
I am not sure on an xp but I shorted the bridges on a t-bird once, and it did not hurt it. I just cleaned it off real good and tried again.
Good luck!

It's just a "bug" in the bios. The 8kha+ bios does not have a 12.5 selection cuz that is under the 13x. The programers just did a small mistake :)

The multiplier is locked until you do what he does in the video. After that yes you can change it through the bios, but not until this is done.

It's more difficult than it looks. I filled the pits (took me about 4 apps of Krazy glue) and closed my bridges w/ defogger paint, but it didn't take. Did I miss something? None of the bridges are crossed or anything.

VIDA, goto the Sitcky thead in AMD CPU's

its there..

Well guys...

I can answer a few of your questions (If my comp doesnt crash)

(If you get this then it didnt crash)

Well I fried my 1800+ on accident, I gotta send it back in..

But I got a 1600+ Agioa, and got it home, oc'ed it to 1800+

10.5x143 i think... dont remember.. but doesnt matter

(That was at .05+ volts)

I did a burn in..... (like 6 hours)

Worked..

Took it to 150 (at .05+) worked..... did a burn in worked... (about 10 hours)

Then I unlocked it... Messed around with it at different speeds/ and Multi's and it mostly worked...

I took it out threw it in another mobo, and it didnt work AT ALL... not saying the CPU is bad... for some odd rason the mobo wasnt working.. dont know way.. still... but a waste of time...

Put it back into my PC and it was locked... (GRRRRRR)

I looked and I didnt touch ANY of the connections on the L1 bridge... it looked fine)

So that was like 3 weeks ago.. now I just did it again..

Re- unlocked it...

1.) I redid it and it didnt work
2.) I redid it taping the connection points and packing the white stuff in, With my finger.. then put the grease over it carefully with a pin and it works!!

Why I said I hope I dont crash is cuz im at 133x11 (AT -.025 VOLTS!!)

Im unvolting and overclocking...

!!!!!! YEA!!

But I hope I can get to like 150x 12 (My mobo sucks arss, BAD.. it doesnt have FSB/PCI stuff so it isnt at all stable over 150... but rock solid at 150... (Well 150x10.5 is 1575 or 1900+, I had it at that for like 3 weeks prior until today...)

So I hope I can get to 150x12 (1800)

at like +.05 volts or maybe .075

We'll see.

Here look!!!!

(My CPU fan is on medium, on high it will cool about 4 more degrees C....)

seversphere
11-13-02, 07:47 PM
dave4925 look for defogger repair kits at your auto parts store.

range in price from 5.99 and up depending on area.

It has a bottle of conductive solution. It dries fast but you can rehydrate it with a small drop of 100% acetone and shaking. I wouldn't rehydrate til the thing completely gets dried out from use. It needs shaking everytime you dip into it to paint cause it separates from the metal quickly.

A good tip for all is to not only fill in the pits but also cover the L3 bridges with a coating of superglue so that you run no chance of connecting to them. This makes it easier on your masking as well. You don't have to mess with the tape as much risking damaging the bridges already made.

Another tip is to do the 1st bridge then the 5th bridge then the middle bridge leaving you only two bridges that will be hard to mask and paint without damaging the other bridges.

I appreciate the info for unlocking the XP properly. I made the mistake of trying to reinvent the wheel and will never be able to unlock the chip now. But at least I will know for the next XP.

Not really too concerned with the xfer of my modem. Analog, Cable, DSL, T1 or a T3. They all let you download, playback was the issue although I had no problems with either.

RPM_Computing
11-19-02, 01:45 AM
Well, after some time thinking about how I could fix the job I had done to the chip it is now unlocked and running fine. I made a thread on how to fix a bad unlocking job. I had actually scrapped off the green coating in my attempt to get a conductive coating applied to the pins but fixed it with a little bit of super glue and ingenutiy.

Question about unlocking the L5 Bridges.

I know L5 bridges are for MP capibility's but in a single CPU system would there be any processing advantages to doing so?

TIA.
