The legality depends on the state and what groups you are part of. I remember a show on techtv on which someone had a lot of old tanks like this that he operated, some as part of a restoration group and some owned in full by him. He even was able to use a british tank as a car (street legal) and when he was with his restoration group he was able to fire the turret at certain firing ranges.

Owning a tank would be pretty awsome, but then again so would a lot of things.

They sometimes have ads for tanks and migs and such in DuPont Registry magazine for sale. I think you can have it if the weapons have been discharged or if it's for protection, I forgot the exact circumstances you can own that crap, but you can.

owning a tank or owning someone with a tank, either one makes these deals very appealing

Isn't owning someone illegal these days?
Nope, I own people all day long.

What is absolutly funny is that at the LAN at Dugans I attended there was a joke going around that D94 found a Tactical Nuke for $2.99
and here he comes with Mil hardware :D

I always thought of d94 as Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption. He really can get you anything you want for the right price.

I don't know if you listen to hip-hop, but haven't you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?

Its not a tank but..
1943 Indian Model 841 shaft drive motorcycle.
One of only 1000 built and this is serial number1076. They were serial numbered 101 thru 1100. This bike was owned by the same man for 60 years, 1945 to 2005. It has with it the original title and matching numbers on the frame and motor. It is beautifully and professionally restored to factory new show quality, everything is there and everything works and is correct. This is absolutely the best 841 in existence.
Price: $55,000.00

Yes and he was working out a grand scheme to make hundreds of thousands of dollars trading them back in to Staples! :D
I love how that M18 has $125k crossed out with bright, flashing $120k next to it. Like someone out there is thinking: "Well I need an M18 and I need one today.... but I really wasn't looking to go that high in price....."

I noticed that myself, actually. That'd be an awesome buy if you could afford it.
The Chenowith FAV caught my eye, but I wouldn't give the guy $29,000 USD for the damn thing. It's a dunebuggy w/ armour plating. A desert crawler.

We should hold a fund raiser to get SSS a tank. Imagine the look on a troll's face when he comes rolling through their front door!

1982 Chenowith F. A. V. Absolutely mint, all original rare vehicle. Only 121 built at a cost of $89,000.00 ea.
Price: $29,000.00
I'd like it more if that .50 cal on top came with it.... :)

I wonder how many MPH that M18 gets per gallon...very attractive, and I bet it would make all those SUV-drivers cower in fear as you pass them by and wave with your turrent! Talk about 5 star safety ratings!

another vote for buying SSS a tank, I would donate :)
PS Its Army... :o
Just don't buy anthing from the Canadian military. Last time I saw an armored personel carrier of ours (at an auto show) it had 5 seperate buckets under it to catch the various leaking fluids. If that isn't enough of a warning, just put "Canadian Sea King" into a search engine.....

Sea Kings in the Sun
Good bye papa please pray for me
My helicopter's crashing in the sea.
I honestly don't mean to pout
But my future is in doubt
My co-pilot just fell out
Good bye papa it's hard to fly
When my air frame's cracking in the sky
For every hour in the air
It takes them thirty to repair
We fly these things on a dare
We've had joy we've had fun
We've had sea kings in the sun
But the engines are on fire
And the sea kings must retire
Good bye Chretien my stingy one
You could have bought the E-H 101
Instead you blew five hundred mil
Just to cancel out the bill
Now I need an airsick pill.
We've had joy we've had fun
We've had sea kings in the sun
We'll be lucky if we reach
A crash landing on the beach.

Hire someone who speaks perfect Russian to dress up in uniform and go around to all of your neighbours houses asking to see their papers while the tank sits in their driveway.

PROTECTION?!
I don't beleive in super strict gun control, but come on! When are you going to be in a live threatening situation, enough that you would need a HUGE MACHINE GUN.......... WHEN YOU ARE IN A TANK!!!!!

I've been in a situation where it was nice to have a machine gun around... Of course that wasn't in the states. But my point is that they can be quite helpful.

Only problem is that, even if you had the T72 someone in Detroit would still carjack you!
I would love to have one of the mobile artillery. Someone behind you gets roadrage and starts flipping out, you just rotate the turret (have a sign hanging off the end of the barrel saying "What's YOUR problem?" *BANG*)
