Hi, I was recently told by my friend that I got kinda screwed when I bought this card 8 months ago. :(
Anyhow, my question is this... can I overclock my card so that I can play at a 9600 or even 9800 level? And, how do I do this?

I bought 2 games... Battlefield 2142 and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and they require at least a 9600 ati card.

Can anyone help?!?!

Aloha!

Uh... first you sell that card.. and then you buy a AGP/pci E card depending on what you have.. if you only have PCI then youw ill be extremely limited.. your b est bet would be the 5600 FX if you could find it..

so this means I can't overclock my card to the 95xx or 96xx?

thats w hat it means.. if youc ould OC it to those speeds it still would not play any games which require those at the minimum.

These are the specs of your card:
Model| 9250 R2xx core
Memory addressing interface| 128-bit
Core|GDDR| 240/200(400)
Pxl|Vertex shaders| 4/1
Slower clocks than its precedessor the 9200.

The 9600 has the following specs:
9600 Core R3xx
128-bit
325|200(400)
4/2

You can't really squeeze out enough from your 9250 to match the 9600, let alone 9800 across the board. However, since you already have the card, go ahead and overclock it. You should see some tangiable gains from doing this.

You just cannot play any modern games on this card. If you can, it would have to be at horrible resolutions. :(

The 9550 cant even come close to OCing up to a 9600's performance level, Anything below the 9600 is just plain pathetic, i recently found out the hard way myself hehe.

Even *IF* he overclocked it a lot the PCI bandwith is so low he wouldn't notice the performance gain.
