Alright..since this scsi vs ide has been going on pretty frequently lately..lemme clear up something.

SCSI is not that special to IDE other than its meant for multi-tasking. Think dual proc to single proc if it helps. Read/write/transfer/etc same time w/out much of a speed loss. IDE would be crippled. It does multiple reads so fragmented drives info is gets where its needed a little faster. They're probably made of better quality and feels more robust..

-BUT-

You probrably won't ever realize any of this unless you had a big file server and had people getting files back and forth all the time. SCSI is not some big secret special technology that's god speed ahead of IDE=)

For the most part 7200rpm scsi=7200rpm + $$ ide if you use it for gaming, internet, and word. Transfer speed doesn't really matter as we're barely reaching the ATA33 anyways. And I haven't seen any 10K rpm IDE drives yet..but I could be wrong.

i still gotta wait sometime to buy one new HD and this both below r two of the best options i have:
quantum atlas v 10000rpm u-2 wide 18.2GB and
quantum SCSI atlas 10k II 9.2GB
there r a few for the same range of price but those r which i cant still decide for, up to now.
i really dont need more than 10GB so could SCSI be a reasonable choice? spending as much as a good 20GB IDE?
thanks for your help.

Well if u insist on getting one.

If you have other HDD's other than the 10GB scsi. Yea, no prob. Gotta warn you. 10K rpms make a high pitched whine and need a fan blown over them to keep cool.

I'd get the ATA100 10K RPM+HDD Cooler ..

You'd get way more space and not much of a noticable difference.
