First, I just wanted to say hello. I have been browsing these forums since barton 2500+ were unlocked forget the year exactly but due to whatever I haven't really been following the hardware technology as well as I use to infact I haven't been following it at all.So the first thing I decided to do was to take a gander at what most people were running and checked out a few reviews and benchies and have come to the conclusion of my next pc.I currently have a dated a64 3200+ 1mb cache zalman hsf 1gig of corsair ddr 400 aopen 89k-max 9700pro antec truepower 550w.

Anyways I have an idea of what I want and would just like any suggestions if there may be conflicts or if I may be able to get the same/better performance for cheaper.(I recall the 2500+ and the 3000+ OC'n to the same speeds)
Let's start with what I've got.
Samsung Syncmaster 940bx
TT Armor /w 25cm panel
X-Fi XtremeMusic
Thermalright Ultra120(only bought it because I know it's what I want and was hard to find instock so jumped on it when it was)

Now for what I have picked out.
Asus P5B-D
Gskill 2g pc6400 HZ
Seagate 320g 7200.10
E6600 or 6700 (haven't decided)
OCZ GamerXtreme 700w
7900gtx (evga so I can step-up to the 8800 GTS) If the 8800 GTS isn't out when I purchase(If it is I will get probally get BFG or EVGA regardless)
Samsung SH-S182M/BEBN dvd-burner
Second 19inch LCD 1280x1024 (75-85hz)Gaming Monitor(suggestions!!)I do not like higher resolutions so I won't need a bigger monitor nor SLI.
Also any suggestions for an external storage drive would be fantastic I'm looking at the WDXC3200JBRNN.

Thanks in advance

antec smartpower 550watt 2.0
i have an x1800xt 256mb now so im fine in the gfx section
and i was thinking about grabbing a benq 20.1inch lcd widescreen
with the hsf, and thermal paste etc, and overnight shipping its gonna run close to 1400dollars, think its worth it?

Welcome to the forums! :welcome:

It seems like you did your homework - I would not change a lot - if you want more bang for the buck, I'd say maybe consider a e6400 insted of e6600 (I personally am going with the e6600 though).

So you think the 6700 would be a bit overkill ? I have always prefered a higher fsb vs raw clock speed and I do intend on OC'n it to max 24/7 stable

i personally dont think the 6700 is worth the price at all, and personally i dont need more then about 80gigs worth of storage, so i decided to go with 1 160gig sata hdd 16mb cache and 3.0gb/s, so its not to bad. Im gonna go ahead and hit submitt now, should arrive here tomorrow =D.

I heavily suggesting you to purchase 2 of that 320GB 7200.10 perp drives or better 3 or even 4 :D , it will give you a boost in disk performance "significantly" using Intel matrix raid, just click my sig for more details. :)
