View Full Version : I dropped juice on my mouse
As the title indicates I dropped cranberry juice on my intellimouse explorer. The mouse still works but the buttons are sticky and aren't released all the way up. It still operates normally but it doesn't click anymore and it's anoying. Any suggestions on cleaning it?

unplug it - use ionized water or rubbing alcohol - allow to completely air dry! if you can take a apart - do that....

Yeah, unplug it, clean it out, and let it dry before you use it again.

Bah, that's nothing. I play FPS's so much, my right mouse button (Which I have assigned to move forward) got bent over time. It was at such an angle that the edges of the button rubbed against the rest of the shell, making a squeaking noise. It also made the button stick, so I had to open it, melt the button with a lighter, and bent it back to it's original position.
Washing a mouse ain't no thang, take it apart, throw the pieces in a dishwasher, and wait for it to dry completely before you put it back together. (Put EVERY part of the mouse in, cable and PCB too. EVERYTHING, just disassemble it as best you can.)
Does anyone know how to open an Intellimouse Explorer. Mine was replaced because an intermittent problem due to the cord wearing out. So if I can open it I can shorten the cord and have two working mice!!
I was looking at my mouse and there are screws under the four pads under the mouse. That should allow you(and me) to take it apart.

Lick it??? No seriously what you want to do is use rubbing alochol and give it a good rubbing. Then click the buttons a couple of time to make sure they work. Then let the alcohol evaporte. Using water will just take more time! Why...because of Chemistry my dear Etran.
I must have spoken to at least 30 customer who have have spilt orange juice, milk, water, champaign, coke, coffee in their laptop or desktop keyboards yours in the first mouse I have ever heard of.
What I want to know is how you missed the keyboard...
I didn't completely miss the keyboard but my glass was on a higer level then my keyboard and mouse so it split directly on the mouse. The good news is that I cleaned it and it works fine now.
