*Must....Buy.....Lots of PS3's
I'm sure there's some people that actually would pay that much for a PS3
After seeing the graphics for the ps3 im sure people will pay ANY amount given.
I thought the graphics were cgi movies. but they are INGAME REAL TIME pictures.
friggin amazing. call of duty looks so real you basically ARE in the game

This will be interesting to say the least and like all consoles there are a ton of "rumors" with the PS3. Considering there will only be 400,000 released in the States, at least by what Sony says, I'm interested to see how many make it to Ebay.
I have nothing against people making money on Ebay, that's the whole idea of Ebay, but if someone buys one for $1,000 or more, simply put...they are an idiot, just my opinion. Heck paying over $600.00 is to much IMO.

I will be really, really surprised if the PS3 will regularly fetch 2k on ebay at launch. Of course there will be demand, but that's a mad amount of jack to spend on a console, regardless of the features. Look at the backlash to the $500 and $600 street price. Do people think there will be a large market for units at 3 or 4 times that much?
Plus, with the number of people planning on buying one just to sell it on ebay, imagine how many are going to pop up there. When there are 10,000 or more listed, buyers aren't going to spend big for one.
In the past, when a next gen console is released they usually net about 1k or 1.5k at the top end. I think the PS3 is going to fall pretty close to that range. Talk of getting 2.5 or 4k a piece is silly imo. If it were that easy, everyone would do it. And if everyone is doing it, who exactly is buying?

If I remember correctly NV said the PS3 graphics won't be as good as whats available for computer when it launches so i'm not worried people dieing to have one.
However $1000 isn't out of the question xbox360s got close I think

I agree 100%.
If people are already ****ed about the 600.00 price tag why are they going to spend 2500.00-5000.00...that's a bit of wishful thinking.
I know there will be a few parents that will probably buy one at an outrageous amount to make their spoiled kid happy, but not as many as people think.
It will be funny as hell seeing how many people get stuck with a PS3, thinking they are going to make some ungodly amount. Don't quit your job yet.

I saw a few 306's hit the 800 mark but I don't recall seeing it go any higher

eBay have apparently announced that they intend to prevent PS3s from being sold at inflated prices on the launch of the console. I can't remember the details, or where I read it, but the comments were attributed to a bloke from eBay rather than just wild rumour.

Well to some extent its true read an artical on it.
They where pulling pre-orders unless you had like a 99% feedback rating, only accepted paypal, must of had rating of 50, and had to ship within 30 days and must show the sales receipt that you bought it. Ones that don't qualify have to have it in there hand to show proof that they actually have it.
I've seen PS3's go anywhere from 1,400 to 7,000 USD Most are in the 1,400-2,000 range with just a few breaking into the 4,000 to 7,000 arena.

I had a friend win a 360 in a give-away and sold it on ebay for close to 2k so I would not at all be suprised to see PS3 go to for 3-4k. Also I too heard ebay would ban the sale of them on digg.com however the site that said it was not one I would trust so I would say it's probably fake. Not to mention Ebay makes money from those sales and dosn't care how much a price inflates.

Doubt there worried about the money its the fake orders and constant people trying to rip people off thats the issue.

Did your friend win the 360 in one of those win-it-before-you-can-buy-it contests? I ask because all of the 360's I saw that went for well over 1,000 were basically all sold before the official launch. After launch the price quickly fell, with the typical 360 going for around 700-800 or so.
My advice to anyone who is thinking about flipping a PS3 for profit on ebay is don't buy it unless you plan to own one... because you may get stuck with it if you refuse to let it go for a small profit.
This is common knowledge.
